Dale Vicker and Manchester Pride Team to climb Kilimanjaro As the team behind one of the UK's biggest gay pride events, Jackie Crozier, Sarah Rowland and Dale Vicker are no stranger to raising money for charity. But this October the Manchester Pride team will be taking their fund raising efforts to, quite literally, new heights when they're set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. Festival director, Jackie, and Dale, who works as part of Manchester Pride's promotions team, are raising funds for the Alzheimers Society, whilst event manager, Sarah, is climbing for CLIC Sargent - a charity that cares for children suffering from cancer. The team are set to leave Manchester on their epic, eleven day challenge on 14th October and hope to raise around £15,000. If you would like to make a donation to any of the team's chosen charities, you can do so via Just Giving – links to which can be found at the bottom of ths page. Dale Vicker said: “Jackie and I have seen first hand how the disease can affect lives. My grandmother sadly passed away from the cruel disease a couple of years ago and Jackies grandmother is currently living with the disease. At 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and one of the biggest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. The climb takes the team along the Kenya-Tanzania border and passes through farmland and forest on the trek to the summit.
